Chonor House, Dharamsala, India

A peaceful retreat in McLeod Ganj

Why?

This Hotel has an incredible energy with its Tibetan décor – striking wall paintings complemented by appliquéd fabrics, hand-knotted carpets and carved, decorated wooden furniture all created by Norbulingka craftsmen.

It is a wonderful part of the world to visit, where you can learn about the rich culture and history of Tibetan life.

There is also plenty of opportunity to  take part in creating some of the Tibetan art at any of the workshops in traditional Tibetan thangka, woodcarving, and wood painting. Workshops are fully customizable to the individual and can last from half a day to several months.

You will be trained by a Norbulingka master artist and leave with a beautiful piece of artwork which you created, as well as an appreciation for the depth and sophistication of Tibetan art and the journey which is taken to create such work.

Another exciting fact about Chonor House is that it’s conveniently located by the Thekchen Chöling Temple and the Dalai Lama’s residence!

We’ll let the photos speak for themselves…
