Derawan Dive Lodge is located on the island of Derawan, which is the main island of the same-named archipelago just off the coast of East Kalimantan in Indonesia. Built on a private white sandy beach, the lodge boasts 10 rooms and this size creates its own uniqueness and the feel of a boutique resort.
Diving at Derawan is diverse, ranging from spectacular wall dives to wreck and shore dives. There is great diversity of small marine life in the shallows, as well as an ever dominant presence of turtles cruising the reef edge in deeper water. With two 14m purpose built dive boats and a fully self-contained dive centre including NITROX, the Derawan Dive Lodge caters for guests who want to experience diving at its best.
The Lodge is built from wood with Minahasan style concept, following Tasik Divers’ origin from the land of Minahasan, Manado. The establishment consist of two ocean view cottages, six beach chalet rooms and two family duplex rooms. All rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, hot/cold shower, safety box, day bed which functions as third bed and are furnished in a functional minimalist style.
The small outdoor restaurant is located beneath one of the rooms. It serves mainly Indonesian food. The restaurant staff are a mixture of locals and Manadonese who will look after your culinary well-being with traditional Indonesian spices. Be aware that we are in the Muslim part of Indonesia, so the meats are limited to seafood, chicken and the occasional beef. No pork will be served due to our respect for our local staff’s culture.
Derawan’s outstanding location offers guests the chance to see mantas, a lake of non-stinging jellyfish and schooling barracuda. Makro fans can enjoy the skills of our well trained guides who will do their best to find pygmy seahorses, blue-ring octopus and frogfish.
