Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel, Zanzibar

ZANZIBAR – Ras Nungwi Beach Resort Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel is located on an expanse of beach on the northern tip of Zanzibar. The hotel itself is built from hand-cut fossilised coral limestone and other natural  materials, and literally blends into the landscape. The hotel coexists harmoniously so that guests can enjoy the beauty of the natural surroundings without forsaking too many comforts. All 19 rooms and 35 chalets are positioned to maximise the panoramic sea views and cool island breezes. Individually furnished with hand-crafted four-poster beds and carved doors, all rooms have en-suite with air conditioning and mosquito nets. Lodge rooms have a garden view and chalet rooms have a sea view.

Guests can also enjoy the hotel’s fresh-water swimming pool, with stunning vistas of the Indian ocean, and a wide range of water sports are also on offer. The proximity and variety of the surrounding reefs makes Ras Nungwi the perfect diving destination. The hotel has an on-site fully equipped dive centre, professionally run to international PADI standards. Dive adventures are available for all experience levels including beginners who can be trained to full PADI certification by resident instructors.

The variety of sea-life on the coral reefs is immense, with regular sightings of dolphins, manta rays, turtles and reef sharks and seasonal sightings of whale sharks during Aug – November. Typical dive sites include: The Big Wall, (an incredible wall dive off the Mnemba Atoll, descending to 35m).

Leven Banks, (a massive reef structure 7 miles out to sea) and Kichafi, (an excellent coral reef and great for night dives close to the resort). Depths of most reefs range between 12m to 40m, and year round average water temperature is 27°C. Visibility is typically excellent. Diving is fantastic between June – November although it is considered generally good year round.
