The United States of America is a place that means many things to many people. It has ‘a lot of everything’, from some of the most sought after beaches, to snow-covered mountains, wood pine forests, deserts, never ending roads, food and people from around the world, and famours cities and sites from the movies.
We have many USA trip ideas to share!
This is a large country of road trips and open skies with over four million miles of highways, some of which lead to red-rock deserts and mountain peaks on fertile fields. The yellow hillsides of the Great Plains, amazing richness of rainforests of the Pacific Northwest and country lanes of New England are some of the best parts of American road trips.
There are great cities of big lights and large, tasty plates of food. This long list of cities include Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, Miami, Boston and New York to name but a few. They each have their own authentic style, sense of culture, cuisine and entertainment. There are just too many to list here.
Think of the Empire State Building, 1950s-style diners, delis and bagels and you will immediately think of New York. Think of the White House or chicken and waffle for breakfast and Washington will spring to mind. In Austin there’s an eclectic music scene with its laidback charm. For San Francisco, there’s the Golden Gate Bridge which has an incredible view that is worth taking photos of and then, there’s the eco-friendly land of Portland.
America is a nation of food lovers. Many counties on the West Coast including San Diego have a large population of migrants from South East Asia, hence the endless choice of Asian eateries from Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese and Malaysian cuisine. Texans enjoy their roadhouses and barbecue ribs. And some of the best pizzas can be found in Chicago with their mouth-watering pizza pies which America is famous for.
Mardi-Gras Festival, New Orleans
The USA has its own art status with some of the best museums and art galleries on both the east coast and west such as Washington and New York. American artist Jackson Pollock is famous for his 20th century drip paintings and Andy Warhol for 1960s pop art influences. There’s also the musical influence of the soulful blues from Memphis and Mississippi or Detroit’s Motown sound of jazz, country, funk and rock and roll.
When it comes to travelling in the USA you will find that there are endless possibilities as to what you can see. It’s a mix of canyons, glaciers, beaches, rainforests, mountains, coastal lines and natural beauty with fascinating cities not too far away. There’s also the friendliest locals and best restaurants. Hop on a train, take the metro, fly on a short plane ride or drive to another state and explore America.
We’ve dedicated a page for a Fly Drive experience in the USA where you can explore this big country in your own pace.
