The Blue Hole, Azure window, Inland sea, Cathedral cave and Reqqa reef are some of the brilliant and unforgettable dives that one can do on this tiny Mediterranean island where time seems to stands still.
Gozo has something for everyone; idyllic scenery, imposing cliffs, open markets, fine restaurants, historical places and buzzing night clubs and, above all, friendly locals. Your diving holiday in Gozo is a guarantee of fun and relaxation!
Malta, the main island, is less than a 3-hour flight from anywhere in Europe so it is a perfect destination for a weeks holiday or even a long weekend.
A regular helicopter and ferry service operates between Malta and Gozo, via which you will be shuttled across in comfort in less than 30-minutes to the Island of the Nymph – Calypso.
We offer a wide range of accommodation from self-catering apartments to Rustic Farmhouses with pools.
Gozo also boasts an excellent choice of hotels from 3 to 5 star deluxe. In addition to outstanding diving we offer BBQ nights, car hire, adventure jeep tours and nature walking trials, as well as baby sitting facilities.
With over 40 years of experience and one of Europe’s leading dive centres/schools, Maltaqua is a family-run business established by Mike and Agnes Upton.
With thousands of dives logged between them, they have serviced tens of thousands of clients; trained thousands of divers and hundreds of highly skilled instructors – all with a strong policy on Safety First, which has brought them worldwide recognition and acclaim.
Maltaqua offers a range of Introductory Courses; PADI Courses; BSAC Courses, and daily diving excursions around the three islands of Malta, Gozo and Comino.
All diving equipment, compressors, vehicles and boats are modern, well-maintained and very reliable. Each member of their friendly and enthusiastic team, are professional instructors who have been selected and trained to the standard associated with Maltaqua. All excursions and courses are led by fully qualified instructors, and the very best is done to ‘match-make’ instructors with groups in terms of language, age and outlook – from experience, they find that people learn best when comfortable with their instructor.
A little way from the Dive Centre and its well-stocked Dive Shop, is Sands – Maltaqua’s complex of purpose-built, air-conditioned studio apartments, which has an area for washing and hanging up gear. Located in the village of St Paul’s Bay, the apartments are conveniently based near all amenities. Maltaqua occupies three floors on Mosta Rd, the main road through the old village of St Paul’s Bay.
The International Diver College is only 100 metres away, at the Sands Apartments in Patri Felice Sammut Street. Their position is very close to the centre of St Paul’s Bay, with a wide choice of shops, restaurants, bars etc nearby.
The three villages of St Paul’s Bay, Bugibba and Qawra now form one single conglomerate, which is one of the two main tourist areas on the island
Located at Xewkija – was established 20 years ago. At that time, diving equipment was still in its early days and we have seen a lot of development since.
Frankie’s was chosen to be established in a village where space and property was not a problem, rather than being located at the seafront where space was limited. It was built to offer all services to divers: accommodation, restaurants, special deep training pool, lecture rooms, and all other facilities that one can think of for divers – all located in the same complex.
For three years in a row, from 1998 to 2000, the prestigious diving magazine – The Tauchen – honoured Frankie’s with the Tauchen Trophy for ‘The Best Dive Centre In The Mediterranean’. PADI also honoured them with the award for good diving courses with the PADI Education Award.A prestigious Spanish Filming Company also chose Frankie’s for the Underwater Documentaries of the Mediterranean Dive Destinations.
Frankie’s offer beginners’ dives; all PADI diving courses; guided dives – as well as unguided non-limit dive packages for the more experienced.
Apart from the excellent shore dives, less frequented sites can be reached with any of their dive boats. For the less experienced or the total beginner, one could not find a safer, or more exciting places to learn to dive. Frankie’s have a ‘hotel-divers’ – a training pool that has been specially constructed for beginners’ courses. Unlike normal pools, it has a flat bottom and two different depths: one of 1.5m, and the deep end of 4.5m. This is the only pool of its kind on the island as the centre is not just a dive shop, but also a complex for divers.
The Mariblu Guesthouse is part of the Frankie’s Dive Centre Complex. Here one can stay in double rooms on bed and breakfast, or half board, basis.
Family suites, consisting of 2 separate bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and dining room are ideal for groups or families, as here they can stay on bed and breakfast, or even self-catering, as these suites have a fully equipped kitchen and facilities.
The restaurant, The Mariblu, offers Italian and Traditional Local Cuisine, while their ‘Pizzeria & Wine Bar’ is open all day. Pizzas, as well as light snacks, are served all day by the pool. Al fresco dinner is served and barbeques are organised by the pool for the divers. After the dives, one can relax and have a beer, while making new friends and talking about their diving experiences and travel plans. It is just like a Divers Club for a week or two, and this is also what makes the centre different from others.
Found at Qala Point, Blue Waters Dive Cove is a certified PADI dive centre in Gozo with a team of dynamic, young – yet experienced – instructors. All their rental equipment is brand new and the training facilities are excellent.
They offer various dive packages, training courses, accompanied diving, boat dives and night dives. Their qualified instructors can guide you around the wonderful dive sites of Gozo or, if you prefer, you can rent equipment and they will be happy to offer you advice on how to best enjoy diving around this intriguing Island.
Located on Malta’s sister island of Gozo, Moby Dives is a PADI Five Star IDC diving school offering a whole range of PADI scuba diving courses, from Open Water all the way through to Instructor Development Courses in the most idyllic of settings – Xlendi Bay, a picturesque fishing village located on the south west coast of the island.
Combined with this, Moby Dives has an excellent reputation for Scuba Training, Organisation and Professionalism, whilst maintaining a friendly atmosphere with helpful Instructors and Staff.
Moby Dives, also offers a comprehensive range of accommodation options at affordable prices – either in self-catering apartments at Ulysses Village or Xlendi Heights, and farmhouses with or without pool situated in the various villages in Gozo.
Ulysses Aparthotel is the newest extension of the Moby Dives Complex. Situated in Xlendi Bay, it takes less than 5-minutes to walk to the beach. Ulysses Aparthotel consists of individual rooms, studios and one bedroom apartments. All areas of the Aparthotel are easily accessible to persons with special needs. The Aparthotel also has a bar/restaurant called the Captains Table on the ground floor; Continental Breakfasts are on offer and the bar is always open for those wanting a couple of drinks.
