Short Breaks

History, culture and shopping

You can do a lot in five days – from recharging your batteries on the beach, to shopping for bargains or taking in some high culture.

We would all like to spend the next month travelling, but sometimes a short break is just the ticket. Whether it’s a weekend or four days your trip away has to be planned properly to make the best of the time that you have.

Cities are the obvious choice for short breaks – the airport is close by and you get to lots of sites in a single day. But they’re not the only option. You can spend a few days lazing on a beach to recharge your batteries after a working week (just enough time to get a tan that will make your colleagues wonder how you did it) or spend a weekend on the piste if skiing is your passion. For a more cultural idea, you could visit a theatre festival and take in a few shows. It’s all possible within a few hours’ flying time.
