Lombok is a mix of Balinese beauty. From blue seas, Islamic and Hindu culture, cooling waterfalls and green mountains. There are a variety of things to see and experience in the Lombok. Here are a few ideas of where to go for different activities.
Beach culture is quiet, soothing and relaxing in Lombok. Gorgeous beaches can be discovered at Seger, Kuta, Tanjung A’an, Mawun, Mawi, Gerupuk, Ekas Bay, Senggigi and Sire. All of these beaches are untouched with white sandy beaches and crystal blue water.
If you like trekking there’s the majestic Rinjani Mountain (3726 m), which is the second highest peak of Indonesia. Its glorious view is definitely worth taking a photo of. There’s various trekking and hiking tours available as well.
Off the north west coast of Lombok, about 20km north of Senggigi, you will find the famous islands of The Gilis: Gili Air, Gili Meno and Gili Trawangan. It has the most enticing and rarest blue coral reefs, which has thousands of marine life species. This is a great place for snorkelers and divers looking for an underwater adventure.
Off the south west coast of Lombok (Sekotong area), about one hour drive from Mataram, is the capital city of West Nusa Tenggara. Here you can find other Gili Islands as they are a multitude of small islands. All of these islands have beautiful marine life with luscious beaches, which are ideal places for feeding fish, snorkelling and relaxing.
If you want to explore Lombok’s forest life and scout out its plant species you can go to the forests of Kesambi, Bungur, Sonokeling, Mahoni (Mahogani), Teak, Kelicung, Pala, Ipil and Bamboo Tutul. You can also find wild animals on the island including wild pigs, small deer, deer, iguanas, porcupines, turtles and many kinds of poisonous snakes. Bird species are also prevalent from Pring, Parrots, Bering, Koak Kaok to Cucak Rawa.
