Maltaqua Diving Centre

Maltaqua Diving CentreMaltaqua was established in 1970 by Mike and Agnes Upton, both CMAS National Instructors, PADI Staff Instructors and BSAC Advanced Instructors who have both logged thousands of dives since they started diving in 1968. Both are teachers by profession so diver training has always been of particular interest to them.

For 30 years, Maltaqua has been one of Europe's leading dive bases. It has serviced tens of thousands of clients and trained thousands of divers and hundreds of highly skilled instructors. Their aim has always been to improve the range and quality of service they offer to their clients, always maintaining a policy of Safety First. Over the years the standards of safety and service have brought them worldwide recognition and acclaim.

Maltaqua is situated on the main road through the old village of St. Paul's Bay, part of the St. Paul's Bay/ Bugibba/ Qawra conglomerate, which is one of the two main tourist areas on the island.

1978 - When BSAC introduced their Schools system, Maltaqua was among the first group to be recognised and became BSAC's first overseas School - No 007, hence the motto "Nobody does it better".

1980 - Maltaqua became the first PADI Centre in Europe and hosted PADI first European Instructor Course.
