UGANDA
Uganda – the
pearl of Africa and the source of the great River Nile is a country of
spectacular mountains, rainforests, rivers and lakes. There are an enormous
variety of things to see and do in Uganda including trekking the rare
Mountain Gorillas and chimpanzees, bird watching (Uganda boasts over
a thousand species of birds including 27 Rift Valley Endemics and the
Shoebill Stork), mountain climbing and hiking up the Rwenzoris (Mountains
of the Moon). There is also first class game viewing, boating, fishing
for Nile Perch or Tiger Fish, white-water rafting and historical and
cultural tours. We offer a range of safaris in Uganda, from a 6-day trip
to view gorillas to our "The Ultimate Uganda Safari" trip that
lasts for 12-15 days and takes in the best of the country. In addition
to this we run specialist trips with qualified ornithologists and primatologists.
Highlights: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to half of the world’s remaining
Mountain Gorillas. The Gorilla Forest Camp, the newest and most upmarket
of the camps, is situated on a hillside with views towards the forest
where the mountain gorillas reside. It is within walking distance of
the point where visitors meet to start gorilla trekking. A luxury tented
camp with 8 double rooms, each with two queen sized beds, a private wooden
deck and bathroom facilities that include a bathtub with view of the
forest to relax in after gorilla trekking.
Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, Lake Victoria.
Chimpanzees
are an endangered species found only in the forests of Africa. Experience
a rare and incredible opportunity to visit these intriguing creatures
in a near-wild setting while helping to conserve their precious habitat
and contribute to the conservation of their species. We offer accommodation
here in comfortable, large East African style tents on platforms overlooking
the lake. Each tent accommodates two persons (twin beds) in comfort,
with duvets and all linen supplied, en suite bathroom facilities and
solar lighting. The Forest Walk experience offers you an opportunity
to join a group of infant chimpanzees on a one hour walk through their
forest habitat, either in the late afternoon or very early morning.
A maximum of three visitors are allowed in the forest for each walk,
always accompanied by trained CSWCT staff for your safety and enjoyment.
You will be in the company of several chimpanzees ranging in age from
1 year to 8 years of age and you will have direct contact. The forest
walk may be included as part of your overnight experience on Ngamba
Island.

lions, hippos, buffalo, Uganda Kob, baboons, chimpanzee, and a large
variety of birds. In the southern part of the park is the Ishasha area
with tree climbing lions and the Maramagambo Forest, one of the largest
surviving natural forests in Uganda. A launch trip from Mweya along the
Kazinga channel, which joins Lake Edward and Lake George, provides one
of the most memorable experiences of the park and is excellent for birding
and great game viewing. There is also option to go chimp trekking at
Chamburu Gorge.
Mweya Lodge, located on a peninsula overlooking the Kazinga Channel on
one side and with spectacular views towards the Ruwenzori Mountains on
the other, provides some of the best accommodation and service facilities
in Uganda.
Murchison Falls National Park Murchison
Falls National Park, in the northwest of the country is Uganda’s
largest national park. It is home to elephant, buffalo, lion and leopard,
as well as a healthy population of hippo and huge crocodiles on the River
Nile. The park is well known for its bird life - Shoebill being a sought
after rarity. During your safari you will be taken on game drives, as
well as a memorable boat cruise up the Nile River to the foot of the Falls
where the whole of the Nile River is forced into a gap only 8m wide, the
immense force of the water and the views of the Falls are awe inspiring
from the close up viewing points. Game viewing and bird watching along
the banks of the river is excellent, with many species coming to the water’s
edge to drink. The Nile Safari Camp, situated on the banks of the Nile
River, half way between Murchison Falls and Lake Albert is an exclusive
tented camp and log cabin combination lodge. Each cabin has its own private
