Botswana Safari & Victoria Falls
6 nights Desert & Delta Rhino Trust Safari + 2 nights David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa from £4465.00 per person.
With an ethical approach, this suggested safari itinerary visits Botswana’s key highlights. The unique Makgadikgadi Pans National Park is a collection of desolate salt pans; the Okavango is a maze of deep lagoons and winding hidden channels; and Chobe is best known for its huge elephant population.
Light aircraft flights provide a bird’s-eye view of the landscape, and there’s the chance to get up close and personal with the Botswana Rhino Relocation and Reintroduction Project. Then stay in Livingstone to see the ‘smoke that thunders’, Victoria Falls.
6 Nights Makgadikgadi Pans National Park to Chobe National Park
• Makgadikgadi Pans: 2 nights
• Okavango Delta: 2 nights
• Chobe National Park: 2 nights
With many of Botswana’s roads long, windy and time consuming, the easiest way to get around is by light aircraft. While on game drives, you can expect to head out in mokoro, motorboats and 4×4 vehicles.
Desert & Delta have a superb range of lodges and on this suggested itinerary, we recommend the Leroo La Tau Lodge in the Makgadikgadi Pans, Camp Okavango and Chobe Game Lodge.
See the Rhino
This journey is perfect for those seeking an in-depth and unique safari experience with the chance to get up close and personal with the Botswana Rhino Relocation and Reintroduction Project. Understand its importance and experience for yourself the heart-warming outcome of the Rhino Trust Safari.
A safari with a twist
Unlike the conventional safari in a sturdy 4×4, the waterways of Botswana make mokoro and motorboats a much more popular form of transport. In the grass-edged land of the hippo, the crocodile and the wrinkled elephant, the view is sensational. Here, you can also enjoy views from a raised hide, take a sunset cruise and enjoy guided nature walks.
Makgadikgadi Pans National Park
Set in the northeast of Botswana, the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park is a collection of desolate salt pans with sandy desert stretching between them, offering some truly unique landscapes. In the rainy season the pans hold water attracting a variety of birds and wildlife. During the dry season, the pans become a vast expanse of white crystals that glisten in the sun light. Shimmering and beautiful, it is ideally explored by quad bike.
Board a light aircraft and travel over the stunning scenery of the world’s largest inland delta, the Okavango – a maze of deep lagoons, expansive lakes and winding hidden channels. Spend your days discovering the vast expanse of water by motorboat or the traditional and quiet mokoro. Fascinating guided bush walks are also available on some of the islands.
Chobe National Park
In this remarkable national park, you’ll observe the high number of elephants that reside by the Chobe River, which flows gently through the Caprivi flood plains – a haven for elephant, zebra, wildebeest, impala, and an abundance of bird life.
