The Red Sea

DAHAB

PictureAlthough only an hour away from Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab offers a laid back atmosphere for those wanting to get away from the bustle of the larger resorts. Dahab means “Gold” in Arabic as they believed the glimmering sands resembled gold dust. You can see why this area was popular with the hippies in the seventies – it still has a bohemian feel about it. The resort mixes comfort and peaceful relaxation with local Bedouin culture, so you really get to experience the mystique of the Sinai. The village has a choice of friendly Bedouin style cafes and restaurants.
