TAORMINA & GIARDINI NAXOS

EASTERN SICILY

TAORMINA is Sicliy's jewel in the crown - nestling on the slopes of Monte Tauro some 200 metres above sea level with views dominated by the spectacular sight of Mt Etna. It's beautiful landscapes and memorable sights particularly its magnificent amphitheatre had made this little town famous worldwide, particularly to the international jet set. The centre of Taormina is the main street Corso Umberto and what a pleasure it is to stroll along this little street lined with cafes, bars, restaurants and elegant shops but apart from that there is an intricate network of side streets filled with more cafes and ethnic shops and the peaceful Botanical Gardens which were once owned by Lady Florence Trevelyn who loved botany and ornithology.

Taormina perches high above the sea. The cable car will take you down to the beaches below where you will find the Bay of Mazarro, Isola Bella and the longest beaches of Spisone and Mazzeo.

GIARDINI NAXOS

(Garden of the Sea) is an attractive seaside resort offering a mix of cafe society and ancient culture just 5 kilometres from Taormina. It has a fine, long sandy beach that slopes gently down to the sea and that runs along the coast from Capo Taormina to Capo Schiso. It is also renowned for the rich archaeological remains of the first Greek colonists who landed here over 2700 years ago and were attracted by its delightful location and its exceptionally mild climate.
