Sipadan - Mabul (SMART Divers) Resort

Off the south eastern tip of Sabah, Malaysian Borneo, Sipadan is acknowledged to be one of the premier diving spots in Southeast Asia. Sipadan-Mabul resort is nestled in a coconut grove located at the southern tip of Pulau Mabul overlooking the water and nearby Sipadan Island. A dedicated divers resort, Mabul will appeal to those seeking an amazing array of smaller and more unusual marine life. It consists of 40 airconditioned wooden duplex chalets, all with private facilities. There is an open air restaurant, bar, swimming pool and Jacuzzi.

Mabul Water Bungalows  

is a new floating dive-resort situated at Mabul Island overlooking the world-known Sipadan Island which is 15-minutes away by speedboat.

These wooden-type bungalows has fourteen (14) unit entirely built over water with stilts offer sheer comfort. Each bungalow exquisitely furnished with contemporary decor, equipped with remote control air-conditioner, ceiling fan, private bathroom-hot/cold shower and toilet, spacious private balcony offer panoramic vistas of blue sea, colour TV with satellite channels, mini bar and in-room safety box.

Facilities includes a large and airy restaurant for dining, a souvenirs shop selling variety of t-shirts, accessories and gifts, a business center with internet service, a dive center and an  office taking care all the guests registration, billings and spa.

Diving

The unique hard and soft coral habitat around Mabul plays host to an amazing variety of tropical reef fish and invertebrates and hence is paradise for the dedicated underwater photographer. There is a vast variety of macro subjects including mandarinfis

h, ornate ghost pipefish and nudibranchs. The shallow waters permit unusually long dive times and most diving is a combination of wall and drift. The resort has seven custom built dive boats each going out three times daily. Sipadan-Mabul’s technical diving centre offers various services such as nitrox air and trimix diving, and an underwater video centre provides underwater videography services as well as E-6 processing.

Sipadan Water Village Resort, Mabul

Sipadan Water Village Resort is located on Mabul Island in the Celebes Sea on the east coast of Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. There are 35 rooms built on wooden stilts over the sea, including junior, standard and deluxe water cottages. All rooms are equipped with ceiling fan, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. There is a lovely restaurant and open air bar with breathtaking seaviews. To reach Mabul it is necessary to fly from Kota Kinabalu to Tawau, from where you are transferred by coach to Semporna. From Semporna, it is a 30 minute speedboat transfer to reach the resort.

Diving

The resort’s diving services include all the dive sites of Mabul, Kapalai and Sipadan. They are all unique in their own marine life, and distances to the dive sites vary from 5 minutes to 30 minutes by boat. Mabul and Kapalai are probably the most exciting dive sites for macro marine life in the world, making them superb for underwater photographers and divers alike. Sipadan Island is world renowned for its unsurpassed beauty and amazing marine life such as turtles, jacks and barracudas. The full range of PADI and CMAS courses are on offer together with guided night dives, intro dives for first timers and daily dive safaris.
