For several years now the charming village of Selimiye has been on our radar. Often heralded as the new Kalkan, though considerably smaller and quieter, Selimiye’s sea front is lined with smart restaurants, waterside cafés, boutique shops and jazz bars.

During the summer months the Istanbul elite moor their boats and gulets and turn Selimiye into a fashionable and bustling little resort. Yet step away from the main thoroughfare (or visit out of season) and you’ll discover a more traditional lifestyle and gentle pace, for Selimiye is still just a sleepy fishing village at heart.
